There are so many amazing things about this YouTube video capturing the midnight release of Guns N’ Roses “Use Your Illusion” at a small town Wisconsin record store in 1991. Among them: The Mariah Carey soundtrack; cassette tapes; and the ginormous packaging for early compact discs.

But there’s also something a little sad about this time capsule footage—and no, I’m not talking about the bad early 90s haircuts. At one point, the store owner tells the camera he wishes the double album had been released on a weekend so that sales would have been bigger. Still, he said, “it’s good for a small town.” His store is now closed. (Via Mental Floss)
